JCS is Proud to Hold the Kojimachi SDGs Summit, a Program for Junior High School Students

On Tuesday, November 5th, as part of the Edvation×Summit 2019 conference for educational innovators around the world, the Kojimachi SDGs Summit, a workshop for junior high school students, was held at the Kojimachi Junior High School in Chiyoda City, Tokyo.

JCS has been managing international conferences, such as Ministers’ Meetings for the G20 and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Conference (APEC), with participants from all over the world for more than 50 years. Using this experience, we planned and managed this workshop as a place where junior high school students can comprehend the importance of having their own ideas and understand the joy in communicating them.

Twenty students from Kojimachi Junior High School thought of what they can do to help achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), thereby achieving a sustainable world; they also discussed the various current global issues. The content of their discussion was recorded in real-time using a technique called graphic recording that archives dialogues in real time in the form of figures and words, and then, by visualizing the ideas, they gained a deeper understanding of the SDGs.

Edvation × Summit 2019

Edvation×Summit 2019 is a global conference for the largest education innovators in Japan and is held to promote innovation in the field of education using technology. It has been organized since 2017 with the objectives of gaining knowledge about new educational options and creating educational innovators not bound by existing concepts, and 2019 is the third year of this summit.

The conference, with innovators on the leading edge of the educational field from all over the world, had more than 50 sessions, 100 presenters, 20 exhibitors, and 20 workshops. In addition, a meet up with food was held, thereby providing opportunities for networking through two-way communication.

The conference took place in two venues, namely Chiyoda City Kojimachi Junior High School, which has been attracting attention due to its educational reforms, and Kioi Conference, which provides optimal facilities and first-class services. JCS operates jointly with Seibu Properties and has been a venue partner for Edvation×Summit 2018 and 2019.
